FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend

Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years since relocating so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed finished work included a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.

Recent Activities

Barcelona held an open training session inside the stadium on 7 November. Officials stated approval is being pursued by UEFA to host the next European match versus the German side in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
