British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge follows the sports world offered condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
