Artists of all abilities – even beginners – will learn how to design and produce non-representational pieces. Part of the schedule will be spent outside, working on structured activities out in nature. These charcoal drawings and paintings will then be expanded upon in the workspace, with guests creating several abstract landscapes in acrylics to be displayed in the village. The group has sole use of the hotel, which is centered on an central patio and has a sun terrace with panoramic vistas over the countryside. The fee includes five days of painting tuition; all meals; and an trip to the local castle and other local sights.

Ottolenghi-Inspired Cooking in the Algarve
This sun-drenched cooking retreat, set on a villa by the river in the inland Portuguese region, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of renowned chefs. Attendees will master the art of meze spreads, take part in a falafel-making workshop, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains such as a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. There are visits to the local market and a nearby winery to taste local vintages, along with leisure time for walks by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or swim in the pool. Hip Hop in Buckinghamshire
Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an energizing, welcoming three-day dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a high-energy warm-up session, followed by several hour-and-a-half workshops covering different urban dance forms, then an hour-long freestyle session to show off new moves. Dancers are divided into levels based on ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to popping and locking, right up to experienced performers or instructors. The camp doesn’t include lodging but there are a number of places to stay nearby, and it is 23-35 minutes by train into London.

Sea Shanty Weekend in St Ives
St Ives is the ideal spot for a sea shanty weekend. Participants will be taught historic sailing songs from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at composing original ones. There will be voice exercises, breathing exercises, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The holiday is held in a rural hotel overlooking the bay. Full board are included, including a Cornish cream tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Traditional rum, alas, is not provided. Writing in Greece
Writer and lecturer Greg Mosse conducts the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He explores everything from story structure, character development, setting and tension, to submitting work to agents. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will participate in special sessions at the start and finish of the week. The retreat is based at a traditional complex in Vamos at the base of the White mountains – 10 private accommodations surround a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to share). The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a host of courses covering eco-living: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. This two-day introduction will help attendees learn the fundamentals of apiary management, study the life cycle of bees and discover their ecological importance. It is aimed at produce “ecologically mindful beekeepers”. The weekend is also a chance to relax in the centre's carefully maintained forests, which are habitat for wildlife, otters, dormice, bats and rare birds.
